Rome, 1978: The Journey Begins

The Scagnetti story starts in Rome in 1978. At 17, Adriano Scagnetti apprenticed under the Bulgari master foreman Alvaro, learning hand fabrication, gemstone setting and meticulous finishing — the foundations of a lifetime craft.

In the heart of Rome, a young Adriano Scagnetti begins his formal training under master jeweller Alvaro at Bulgari, one of Italy’s most respected luxury houses.

Long days at the bench refine his eye for proportion, stone security and mirror-polish finishes. This traditional Roman schooling becomes the DNA of Scagnetti Fine Jewellers — a standard of precision that will later define the brand in Perth, Australia.

What begins as a humble apprenticeship grows into a multi-decade legacy recognised by clients seeking handcrafted, bespoke jewellery with Italian elegance.

1988: Scagnetti Fine Jewellers is Founded

Adriano and Rita Scagnetti inaugurate their Roman maison. Trained at the bench and revered for design and client care, Rita becomes the maison’s heartbeat — curating sketches, stones and service with effortless Italian grace.

By 1988, Adriano’s mastery and Rita’s refined design sensibility converge to create Scagnetti Fine Jewellers.

From the start, the studio pairs Old-World craftsmanship with personal consultation — sketching ideas, selecting stones, and crafting heirlooms in 18ct gold and platinum.

Rita’s warmth and design intuition guide clients through the bespoke process, while Adriano safeguards quality at every stage. The result is a Roman atelier admired for custom engagement rings, heirloom remodelling and one-of-a-kind statement pieces.

1996: From Rome to Perth — Cottesloe Boutique Opens

The Scagnetti family migrates to Perth, Western Australia, opening on Napoleon Street, Cottesloe — bringing Roman craftsmanship to an Australian audience.

In 1996, the Scagnetti atelier relocates to Cottesloe.

The Perth boutique blends Italian heritage with Australian elegance, offering hand-built jewels crafted with certified diamonds, coloured gemstones and ethically sourced precious metals.

Word of mouth spreads quickly: couples commission custom engagement rings, families restore heirlooms, collectors seek rare gemstones. The address becomes a destination for those who value bespoke design, precision setting and enduring style — establishing Scagnetti among the most trusted Perth jewellers.

Heritage, refined — the brothers ascend

Raised in Rome and trained from age 14, brothers Vairo and Tayron carry the craft forward — from hand skills to CAD 3D design and advanced gemstone setting.

Immersed in Roman culture and shaped by their father’s workshop, Vairo and Tayron Scagnetti carry the house legacy into the present.

As the atelier evolved, Vairo shifted naturally into design leadership, guiding client concepts and overseeing precision through CAD engineering. Tayron, with his exacting hand skills, remained closely tied to the technical artistry of the bench.

Together they collaborate across every stage — fabrication, setting, finishing — passing pieces between their hands until balance and beauty align. Tayron’s WorldSkills Australia Gold and WorldSkills International Silver (Leipzig) remain individual milestones, humbly integrated into a studio where craftsmanship is shared.
