Earrings sit closest to the face, so proportion and finish matter as much as the stone. In our Cottesloe workshop we handcraft diamond studs, Broome pearl pairs, huggies and drops in 18ct gold and platinum, each pair made and finished by the same jewellers who will fit and care for them.
Scale is hard to judge from a photograph. A stud that looks modest online can sit larger against your earlobe, and a pearl's lustre only settles when you see a matched pair under natural light. Book time at the atelier, try a few shapes side by side, and we will talk through backs, weight and how each style will wear through a full day.
Diamond earrings are a workshop staple, from claw set and bezel set studs to halo designs and diamond drops, made in 950 platinum and in 18ct white, yellow and rose gold. The setting decides the character of the pair: claws lift the stones and let the most light through, while a bezel wraps each diamond in a lower, more protective rim of metal. Both are set here in Cottesloe, and we will show you the difference on your own ears rather than in a display tray.
Gold earrings run from polished and faceted hoops to huggies and sculptural drops, and Broome pearl earrings bring a lustre that photographs never quite carry. Whatever the style, the practical questions are the same: a weight you can wear through a long day, backs that hold securely, and a scale that suits your face. Judge those in person, in daylight, with your hair as you usually wear it.
