An emerald is prized for its colour first: a deep, living green that no other gemstone quite matches. The pieces in this collection include halo and cluster rings, emerald and diamond engagement rings, huggie and stud earrings and halo pendants, with Zambian and Colombian emeralds among them, set in 950 platinum and 18ct gold.
Emerald is hard, at 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, but it is typically included and brittle, so it can chip if knocked. That is why we set emeralds with protective settings and give honest advice about how they wear. We do make emerald engagement rings; they suit someone who loves the stone enough to treat it gently, and we talk that through before anything is set.
Colour is personal and hard to judge on a screen, so compare stones in daylight at the atelier. If the right piece is not here, we can make one: design, setting and finishing happen under one roof in Cottesloe, with the emerald chosen in person before the metal is committed.
