What is the difference between sterling silver and stainless steel for daily wear?

How should I care for sterling silver jewellery?

Silver responds to air, moisture and skin chemistry by darkening. Wipe it with a soft cloth after wearing, store it dry and away from harder gemstones or steel that can scratch the surface, and avoid chlorine and strong household chemicals. When you want the bright workshop finish back, bring it in for a professional clean and polish. Regular wear often keeps silver looking better than leaving it unused in a drawer.

Can silver and steel pieces be engraved or resized?

Many sterling silver pieces can be engraved, and some silver rings and bangles can be resized within sensible limits, assessed in the workshop first. Stainless steel is far harder to cut and reshape: engraving is possible on some faces, but resizing is often impractical or not recommended. Bring the piece in and we will tell you plainly what the metal and construction will allow before any work begins.
