A strand of Broome pearls is a different proposition from a fine gold necklace. In our Cottesloe workshop we grade Australian South Sea pearls for lustre, shape and matching, then hand-knot each one so the silk both spaces the nacre and stops a break from emptying the strand. Gold necklaces are fabricated and finished here too, cut to length and closed with clasps that sit cleanly at the nape.
Clients often ask whether they want a graduated strand, a uniform choker, or a lighter chain that can take a pendant later. Seeing Broome pearls in daylight next to a finished gold piece usually settles it. We also restring and alter strands in-house, so what you buy here can be cared for by the same hands that knotted it.
