Will a wedding band sit flush with my engagement ring?

Often yes, when the band is shaped to the engagement ring's profile. A straight band can leave a gap against a curved or low-set shank. Bring the ring in. We check the seat on the bench and make the band to fit the actual piece, not a generic curve from a catalogue.

Flush fit is a making decision. We look at how the engagement ring sits on the finger, where the setting rises, and whether a slight contour or a fitted notch will close the gap without weakening either ring. Some vintage or tension settings will never sit perfectly flush, and we say so before any metal is committed.

If you already wear the engagement ring, wear it to the appointment. A ring that has settled on the hand behaves differently from one still in a box.

Do you make wedding bands for rings you did not make?

Yes. Bring the ring. We measure the profile, metal and width, then make a band that belongs with it. We do not need to have made the original engagement ring, and we do not need the original jeweller's drawings.

What we do need is the piece in the room. Metals vary in colour even when both are called yellow gold. Widths that look matched in a photo can stack poorly on a real finger. If the existing ring is platinum and you want gold, or the other way around, we talk through how the two colours will read together before we start.

Do you make men's wedding bands?

Yes. Width, comfort-fit, metal and finish are chosen for daily wear. Many grooms match the metal of the engagement ring. Others prefer a different width in the same colour. Both are normal, and neither needs a slogan to justify it.

Comfort-fit means the inner surface is slightly rounded so the band rolls over the knuckle more kindly. It is the usual choice for a ring that will be worn through work, swimming and sleep. A flat inner profile can feel firmer and look a little more architectural. We try both on the hand rather than deciding from a chart.

Widths in our workshop typically run from a discreet four millimetres through to a more present six or seven, depending on finger length and how the wearer uses their hands. A tradesman and a pianist do not want the same edge.

When should we order wedding bands in Perth?

After the proposal is typical. Allow workshop time before the wedding date. If the engagement ring is already on the hand, bring it so the band can be fitted against the real piece rather than a guess.

Most bands are simpler than a full engagement commission, but they still need design agreement, metal and making time. Peak months before spring and summer weddings fill the bench. Tell us the ceremony date at the first appointment and we will say what is still possible, including a temporary band if the finished pair will land close to the day.

How do you match metals and finishes?

The cleanest pairing is the same metal family as the engagement ring: 18ct yellow with 18ct yellow, platinum with platinum. White gold can sit beside platinum, but platinum stays white without rhodium, while white gold will need replating as it wears. That difference shows first at the edges where the two rings rub.

Finish matters as much as colour. A high polish next to a brushed engagement shank can look intentional or accidental. We match or deliberately contrast once we have both pieces in daylight. Mixing metals is fine when it is a decision, not an accident of stock.

What should we bring to a bands appointment?

The engagement ring, any inspiration that is actually about how the pair should sit, and an honest note about work, sport and whether the wearer takes rings off at night. If size is uncertain, we can plan a conservative first size and a clean resize after the wedding, provided the design allows it.
